Glomper Releases Unique iPhone/Android App to Organize Free Time

SAN FRANCISCO—JULY 11, 2012—A new smartphone app can help make people’s free time more social and fulfilling, by offering a new take on location-based social networking.

Quietly developed over the course of a year, Glomper’s main focus, as opposed to other location-based apps, is on short-term, advance knowledge of user availability. Glomper aims to inform users as to what people are doing ahead of time, instead of traditional social networks, which only provide information on events that have already happened.

Through this approach, Glomper Founder and CEO Alexander Borodich hopes to empower people to minimize lonely “free time,” replacing it with richer, more fulfilling “Social Time” with friends.

“Free time has become a very scarce commodity in our fast-paced lives,” says Borodich. “Through listening to user feedback, we realized the real problem is being alone when they had free time. Glomper helps you get the most out of your free time by adding a social element to time, creating 'Social Time.'”

To help create “Social Time,” Glomper allows iPhone and Android users to coordinate and synchronize their short-term plans with each other, search for plans that others have posted, and check in to plans/events created through the app. Users can also list themselves as available without specifying a particular plan.

Borodich envisions a whole new category of social apps rising under the “Social Time” banner. And he’s not alone in his vision: Glomper’s year-long development was backed by Igor Matsanuyk, Russia’s most prolific angel investor, whose IMI.VC fund ( invested $1 million in the Glomper team.

Glomper is founded by serial entrepreneurs Alexander Borodich, Dmitry Amroyan & Alexander Dresen, who put together a dynamic, driven team to spearhead the new “Social Time” category of mobile apps. Glomper is available as a free download in both the iTunes App Store and Google Play
